A Professor of linguistics at the Tunisian University, Abdessalem Mseddi is also a member of the Iraqi Academy; the Tunisian Academy for Science, Literature, and the Arts; the Arabic Language Academy in Libya; and the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus. Mseddi is also the General Secretary of the Tunisian Writers' Union.
