Born in Damascus in 1955, Mohamed Hassan Ben Hosni al-Tayyan is a corresponding member of the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, head of the Free Syrian Writers’ Union, and head of the Arabic Language Program at the Arab Open University, Kuwait. Al-Tayyan holds a doctorate in Arabic linguistics from the University of Damascus in 1994.
